Colonic Irrigation, or Colon Hydrotherapy is a type of body cleansing and healing. Toxins and waste matter are eliminated from the colon by flushing it out using water. It is similar to an enema but considerably more effective and comfortable. Filtered water is introduced gently into the colon at a slow, safe pressure. It usually lasts 40 – 50 minutes and the client will generally feel revitalised and clear headed after the treatment.
Colon cleansing detoxes the body in a holistic manner. This leads to improved wellbeing and a better functioning immune system.
Modern diets are a far cry from what we were designed to eat; additives, chemicals & drugs are commonplace in our food and water. Most of us overeat and our digestive systems have become overloaded, toxic and imbalanced.
The colon is the receptacle for waste. Our goal is to prevent the buildup of this waste. The body suffers the effects of the congested colon, which creates poisons and toxins that are eventually absorbed into the body. The physical organs that process and move waste to the colon are impaired when the colon is full.
A healthy colon will improve functioning of body systems.
Frequently asked questions
What are colonics good for? Allergies, asthma, acne, bad breath, bloating, body odour, brittle hair and nails, Candida, constipation, depression, fatigue, flatulence, heartburn, headaches, IBS, indigestion, irritability, lower back pain, skin problems, swelling legs, abdominal tenderness or discomfort can all be helped by colonic irrigation.
What happens during a treatment? First of all there is a consultation where your therapist will take down any relevant data regarding your health and medical history.
Hygiene is a key requirement for our clinic. You will be asked to change into a gown, and then lie down on the Colonic Table ready for treatment. Your therapist will gently insert the sterilized speculum, then it’s just a matter of relaxing, and letting the water do its work.
Are colonics safe? Yes. As a trained therapist conducts the treatment, the insertion is in expert hands, the filtered water is at low pressure and there is no danger of perforation. The equipment used is disposable for optimum hygiene standards. Although some of the friendly bacteria are expelled during treatment, they quickly breed back up to strength, and the environment in colon after treatment is better than before, thus leading to a better balance. A range of supporting supplements is available in the clinic – please enquire.
